About us

Name Mary

Job role:

Head of the kitchen… and Jamie’s boss

Why Morzine:

It has the charm of a typical Savoyard town with a great friendly feel. I love that you can do any sport you want in beautiful surroundings, and the layout of the town means everything’s in close proximity.

Favourite run on the mountain:

‘Tulipe’ that runs off the top of the Ranfoilly lift is second to none (it‘s regularly used as a slalom course because of its lines). It’s a fantastic wide Red with a few well positioned rollers you can race down to get some Big Air!

What are you looking forward to this Winter season:

Lots of ski touring and swapping stories with our guests after a big day on the mountain.

Most embarrassing moment on the slopes:

Racing down the mountain I turned round to mock Jamie who was lagging behind, in doing so, I went off the side of the piste, taking out a whole barrier… in full view of the chairlift overhead. Needless to say I haven’t heard the end of it!

Goal for this winter:

Getting Jamie to treat me to an extravagant meal out in Morzine (he’s Scottish), also playing more Ice Hockey.

Name Jamie

Job role:

Ski instructor, Driver, Maintenance, Waiter, Yoga Man, Slave, whatever the Boss says…..

Favourite run on the mountain:

Without a doubt, the ‘Marmottes’. It’s a red run that starts at the top of the Mont Chery ridge and has a couple of steep sections with some great sweeping turns; ideal for carving and letting yourself fly. What makes the Marmottes so special, like most runs in Mont Chery, is that its nearly always quiet. Spending a day in the sunshine on Mont Chery is a must. The views of the Portes du Soleil and snow-covered Mont Blanc are arguably the best in the area and the majority of the mountain is south facing so you get the sun all day!

What are you looking forward to this Winter season:

Meeting and skiing with more great Jack & Jill guests and lots of time on the mountain with our four children. Maybe even going heli skiing in Italy….. if the Boss allows.

Where’s the best place for après:

Bar Robinsons. Simple but a great atmosphere. The usual suspects are always there and the infamous ‘Mutzig’ beer goes down dangerously well. Good place to start the night.

Most embarrassing moment on the slopes:

During a ski race I was in the starting gate and stupidly hadn’t checked the settings of my new bindings. In front of a crowd of 30 people I propelled myself out of the gate, leaving 1 ski behind and moving a mere 3 metres. With roars of laughter all around I bowed my head in shame and went to the back of the queue….. Go Jamie!

Goal for this winter:

Find and add to our portfolio of amazing chalets & renovate our own house.
